Meet The Team Members:
Fuja’s Executive Director, Rosanne Roraback, has more than 25 years of experience guiding foreign students from around the world.
Ms. Roraback is passionate about assisting international students through the often challenging path of seeking an education abroad. She has genuine admiration for her students’ talent, determination, hard work, and courage. She also has deep appreciation for parents who make great sacrifices to send their child abroad for educational opportunities. She has a son herself, and understands from her own experience that providing a child with educational opportunity is the most important priority of any parent.
Ms. Roraback’s understanding of international students’ experiences and their parents’ concerns about sending them into a foreign culture and society is rooted in nearly 25 years of direct experience.
She began her professional life as a career counselor, and within a few years became an advisor to international students. She eventually became the director of an International Student and Scholars office in Chicago at DePaul University. In this leadership position she oversaw a staff of ten, and supervised the provision of individualized advising services to more than 1,500 students from over 100 countries. She also developed orientation programs to help students learn how to succeed in the U.S. academic environment, make American friends, increase personal safety, and make professional connections in the U.S. job market.
Ms. Roraback offers her students and their parents an insider’s understanding of the American educational system, culture, and career environment. She also shares her extensive professional network with her students and their parents. She actively maintains friendships with many of her former students, who are now successful professionals all over the globe. Ms. Roraback completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees at Michigan State University, with highest academic honors. She has travelled widely in Asia and Europe, and truly believes in the academic, professional, and personal benefits of studying abroad.
Professor Joseph Kinsella
Director of Admission
Dr. Kinsella has 30 years of professional experience in international education at the university level. He oversaw admission of international applicants to DePaul University and currently serves as Fuja’s decision-maker on accepting international applicants into our elementary, high school, and university programs. Prospective Fuja students will have a final interview with Professor Kinsella after being accepted by Ms. Xiao, our Recruitment Director.
Brian Pfaff brings to Fuja extensive experience in teaching cross-cultural communication skills. Brian has taught for more than 20 years in schools in the U.S., the United Kingdom, Japan, Germany, and most recently in Guangzhou, China. He was the recipient of a Fulbright Teaching Exchange Award in 2003.
While on the campus of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Mr. Pfaff developed curriculum for elementary through high school students. He taught critical thinking skills, English composition, and cross-cultural communication. In addition to classroom teaching, Mr. Pfaff tutored high school level students in academic writing style, in preparation for eventual enrollment in foreign MBA programs.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Missouri.
Ms. Irina Huang grew up outside of New York City, and graduated from Northwestern University with a Bachelors degree in Creative Writing. She works with our college applicants on their Personal Statement (PS) essays for University admission. Having been accepted to numerous elite US universities, Ms. Huang works closely with our students to identify what unique personal qualities are best highlighted in the PS, and coaches Fuja students through the challenging essay writing process. She helps each Fuja student tell their own story in a compelling manner, which will differentiate them from otherwise similarly qualified applicants.
Test Prep Specialist
Ms. Hill assists Fuja as an SAT and ACT prep tutor. She is also available to tutor our high school students on effective test taking strategies, good study habits, and effective time management, as well as in US history, US government, Economics, and American and British literature. She holds her bachelors degree from Brigham Young University. This is how Ms. Hill describes her work with high school students: “I earned a perfect score on the Reading section of the ACT on my first attempt. I can help you raise your score on the English or Reading section of the ACT, SAT, SSAT, COOP, ISSAT, HSPT, ISEE or any other standardized test on your horizon. I have a unique approach that focuses on understanding what each standardized test is truly assessing.” She teaches effective standardized test taking strategies for students applying to high school and college.
